His Majesty King Willem – Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Maxima on the invitation of the President of India are on a five day State Visit to India from 14-18 October, 2019. This is the first visit of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander after ascension to the throne in 2013.
On arrival on Sunday evening, the Dutch Royal Couple were greeted by traditional Indian dancers and musicians. A ceremonial welcome was accorded to their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Kovind hosted a banquet in their honour on 14th October. The Royal couple laid wreaths at Rajghat and received External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. They also visited Barapullah drain, where Dutch have set up a water laboratory.
During the official meeting with PM at Hyderabad House, both sides discussed wide ranging bilateral and multilateral issues including, political and economic relations, people to people contacts, Migration and Mobility and Climate. Concrete areas of cooperation that were identified for focus were Water Management, National Nutrition Mission of India, Extension of financial inclusion schemes and ideas in GIFT city schemes, Capacity Building, Services, Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Manufacturing of medical devices in India, Preventive healthcare at community / local level, Ayurveda, etc.
On 15 October, 2019, The Royal Couple will attend the inaugural session of 25th Tech Summit before travelling to Mumbai and the state of Kerala.
