The Embassy of India, The Hague, would like to draw the attention of Members of Indian Community, particularly students and professionals resident in the Netherlands, to fraudulent calls/emails from unscrupulous elements using the names of Officers of the Embassy and spoofed telephone numbers/email IDs of the Embassy of India, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Naturalization Service and Ministry of Justice and Security.
2. The Embassy would advise the Members of Indian Community, particularly students and professionals resident in the Netherlands to remain ever vigilant and ignore unusual requests especially when the caller is requesting personal and financial information. It may also be noted that:
• The Embassy or the Dutch government authorities do not ask for personal and financial information by phone or demand a money transfer by phone.
• If you suspect a call or caller to be doubtful, report the call to the Organization to confirm the authenticity of the calls received.
• Do not give sensitive information by phone or transfer money on demand by phone.
• In the event of receiving such calls, the number from which the call has originated, date and time of call, contact number on which call was received and nature of demand or threat may be reported promptly to Dutch Police as well as the Embassy at consular.thehague@mea.gov.in
3. It is reiterated that Embassy does not call up people asking for personal and financial information and transfer of money on phone. Hence such calls must be ignored and reported to the Dutch Police and Embassy promptly.
